About our Eggs

What other chickens have their very own “eggmobile” to nestle down in each night? Very few I would say. Even better, these traveling super chook homes are moved twice a week to a new spot within their 20 acre paddock. That way the chooks always have the freshest possible pasture grasses and legumes to peck over. The chickens are also fed a mixture of organic grains like Wheat, Millet and Sorgham, and free feed on shell grit and seaweed all day long. This ensures they are getting a balanced and nutritious diet. The result is the purest yellow yolked free range eggs you have ever seen, naturally.

Being ‘free range’ we need to look after our chicken’s safety, so each of our flocks of 1000 birds are protected by two Maremma dogs. They’re gorgeous, friendly, big fluffy white Italian dogs that are excellent at scaring the foxes away. They are natural guards and quickly develop a protective relationship with the chickens. It’s not only foxes that we need to protect our chickens from, it’s also diseases that could be carried in by visitors. We have very strict guidelines to ensure that no contamination is accidentally carried onto the property.

We believe that the health and happiness of all our animals is of primary importance. After you’ve seen chickens roaming freely, playing, pecking and producing wonderful eggs, it’s hard to not feel sad when you see how some chickens spend their lives locked in cages.
